General Information
The results of measurements and tests, for defining the Construction Products qualitative characteristics, involve a significant degree of uncertainty, which is due to different factors that contribute to the measuring, such as equipment, conditions, methodologies and laboratory personnel. The laboratories’ participation in Interlaboratory Schemes guarantees a credible evaluation instrument of the entire result as well as of the detection of those factors which constitute the weak point of the measuring process and form the uncertainty of the final result.
Objective
The main objective of the Interlaboratory Schemes is to offer a tool that guarantees quality results in every laboratory, so that it will have the capacity to compare its performance to other laboratories of similar/pertinent activities and to take actions that aim at its improvement.
There are however additional reasons for the implementation of a Interlaboratory Scheme, such as:
(a) To determine the periodic performance of the laboratories in specific testings or measurements in order to follow up their constant performance during their self-evaluation.
(b) To detect problems of the laboratories and to take corrective actions that may be related to independent personnel performance of instruments’ verification.
(c) To determine the performance characteristics of a method and to establish the effectiveness and comparability of new testings or measurement methods.
(d) To determine values in υλικά αναφοράς and to estimate their suitability in using them in certain measuring processes (mainly in the sector of chemistry).
(e) In order for laboratories to become accredited, their participation in Interlaboratory Schemes is a necessary condition.
EUROCERT is organizing Interlaboratory Schemes, for Cement, Concrete and Aggregates, with great response and participation from laboratories.
(1) A100 - Cement Samples are sent to the participants and they are asked to measure:
(2) A200 - Concrete. A sample of concrete is given and we ask the participants to measure the 28-day strength according to the specification ΣΚ 304:1986
(3) A300 - Aggregates. A sample is send to the participating laboratories with specific attributes and we ask them to determine the particle size of distribution test according to ΕΝ 933-1:1997 and the sand equivalent test according to ΕΝ 933-8:1999 and ASTM.D-2419.
